A roof can look worn long before it starts leaking inside. That was the case for this Oak Ridge home. The existing shingles had faded, darkened, and aged unevenly across the many roof sections. The gutter system was also ready for an update.

Our Mountain View Exteriors crew completed a full roof replacement. We installed CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Driftwood, added a Flintlastic membrane to the low-slope section, and finished the home with new six-inch gutters in Bronze.

A Roof With Several Different Slopes

This home has a large roof with multiple hips, valleys, ridges, and adjoining sections. That makes careful planning important. Water has to move cleanly across each section and into the gutters without being trapped near a transition.

The older roof showed its age most clearly from above. Some sections had heavy discoloration. Others had a flatter, tired appearance. The roof still had a familiar brown tone, yet the color no longer looked consistent across the home.

We removed the aging roofing materials and prepared the structure for a complete new system. Our crew then installed the new shingles across the main roof areas. The finished roof now has a much cleaner pattern from every angle.

Landmark Driftwood Shingles Fit the Brick Exterior

The homeowners selected CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Driftwood. It was a strong match for the warm brick exterior, white trim, and darker accents around the home.

Driftwood includes a mix of gray and brown tones. On this house, those colors give the roof more depth without making it look too dark. The before and after photos show a clear change. The old roof leaned warmer and looked faded. The new roof has a cooler, more even finish that works well with the brick.

CertainTeed is the shingle brand we install most often. Our team is also a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, which reflects the training and installation standards behind our roofing work.

Flintlastic Membrane for the Low-Slope Area

One section at the rear of the home has a low slope. Standard shingles are not the right choice for every low-slope roofing application. This area needed a roofing material made for slower water drainage.

We installed a Flintlastic membrane on that section. The smooth membrane creates a clean transition from the shingled roof and gives the low-slope area the right type of coverage. From the overhead after photo, you can clearly see the membrane at the back of the home.

New Six-Inch Bronze Gutters

The roof replacement was paired with new six-inch gutters in Bronze. The darker gutter color adds a finished edge along the roofline and blends with the new Driftwood shingles.

Six-inch gutters can carry more water than smaller systems. They are a good fit for a large roof with several drainage areas. Mountain View Exteriors installs oversized seamless gutters with larger downspouts for better water flow during East Tennessee rain.
